The winner Jerry Léonide on the Bösendorfer grand pianoIn 1999, the Montreux Jazz Festival’s founder Claude Nobs launches the first international piano competition for young professionals. The aim of this event, which takes place as part of the Festival, is to offer pianists from the same generation but different backgrounds a platform that will help them make a name for themselves worldwide, but also enable them to meet one another and develop relationships. The competition, which is funded by Quincy Jones and organised by the Foundation Montreux Jazz 2, is world-renowned due to the high quality of the participants as well as its jury, made up of celebrated music personalities. Jerry Léonide of France is the winner of the competition 2013 on the Bösendorfer grand piano.
